The Book Club founded in 1998 by Brinda Dubey, wife of the Ambassador of India in Sweden, Lourdes Barros, wife of the Ambassador of Mexico in Sweden, Maria Beatriz Leza Dominguez, wife of the Ambassador of Venezuela in Sweden and Vanessa N. Von Holm is a non-profit organization of book lovers who have a special interest in international cultures, literature and the fine arts. The intent  was to create a club where  friends could combine their passion for literature while enjoying  a lunch and fascinating culinary journey throughout the hostess native country cuisine. A place to truly enjoy what we love best, friendship, literature, culture and food from around the world. 

As the Club grew  it established it self as a truly international organization with a membership list of mostly diplomats representing every corner of the world. Having an  international Book Club has given the members a unique opportunity to enjoy a first hand introduction to the cultural, social, political and historical background of the authors, as well as a delectable lunch from the global cuisine.

We have had as many as 30 active members at one time and an extended waiting list. However, as catering to a larger number its too unpractical for the hostesses, today we limit our membership to a maximum of 15 active members.

When vacancies exist, membership its open only to members referrals whom are in sympathy with the club´s aims and whose application its approved by the Board of Members. Once a year all members are required to host a lunch meeting.
